Dear friends of Jacobs University Bremen and our extended network,

the invasion of Ukraine by Russia has caused hardship and suffering among all Ukrainians. In a first attempt to help the most vulnerable with the most urgent needs, we opened our Campus to accommodate about 100 refugees arriving in Bremen these days, fled mothers and children mostly. Here, we are in intense coordination with the Bremen Senate and the first guests have arrived already.

In a second step, we then prepare for the Ukrainian students in need. Being the home of many students, academic teachers and staff from around the world, we feel compelled to do what lies in our power to help our vulnerable peers and their families. Soon, we will establish a program to cater to the needs of fled Ukrainian students and integrate them into our student body. We want to enable them to continue their scientific education even under these dire circumstances. We will receive extensive support from our partner SIT for this, but the scope of the effort is larger than we can fathom ourselves right now.
